Chaos in my life started when my son’s ex-girlfriend told us she was seven months pregnant with his baby. She didn’t want to keep the baby and wanted to put him up for adoption. We told her we wanted the baby, but she refused. We tried everything we could to gain custody but couldn’t without her permission. Then, to save her and her family from embarrassment, she started telling lies about my son and our family. It was devastating to know I would have a grandchild whose life I would not be part of and then to hear all the lies and rumors about my son and our family. Our family drew closer during this time. Everyone wanted to find a way to keep the baby and we had one meeting after another. We prayed and prayed for God to show us what to do. We felt God’s presence throughout, but I finally realized that us getting custody of the baby was not His plan. As soon as I accepted this, a tremendous feeling of peace took over. He led us to a couple who wanted to adopt our grandchild. I know God prepared them specifically for us. He knew how hard it would be for us to give the baby away. After the adoption was finalized, they contacted us and wanted us to be a part of their lives. We were able to visit with him and they brought him to see us. He has grown up knowing who we are and that we have always loved him. I am so grateful that my grandson didn’t have to grow up being shuffled from family to family and stuck in the middle of family arguments. And, I’m extremely grateful that the parents knew how important it was for the baby to grow up knowing the truth and us. I look back on this experience and thank God every day for guiding us through it all. I was so set on working it out myself that I found myself close to a nervous breakdown, but seeing how His plan was perfect makes me stop now and easily rely on His plans and guidance. Every time a problem comes up now, I try to remind myself that God has a plan and everything is under His control. He is Sovereign. It is comforting to know that our God is sovereign. His sovereignty encompasses His absolute control and authority over all things, both seen and unseen. Even when the world around us seems chaotic and overwhelming, we can find solace in knowing that He is in complete command. The Bible assures us of God's sovereignty in Isaiah 46:9-10: "I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me. I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say, 'My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please.'" This truth provides a foundation for our faith, enabling us to trust Him even in the most challenging seasons of life. When we face trials, we can find hope and strength in passages like Romans 8:28: "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." This verse reminds us that God is able to turn even the most difficult circumstances into something beautiful according to His divine plan. Prayer Heavenly Father, in the midst of life's storms, we find assurance in Your sovereignty. You hold all things in Your capable hands and work all things for our good. Help us to trust Your plans and purposes, even when we cannot see the way ahead. Grant us the strength to surrender our worries and fears, knowing that You are in control. As we face difficulties, may Your Word be a source of comfort and guidance. Instill in us a heart of gratitude, enabling us to see Your hand at work in every circumstance. Thank you for your unchanging love and the peace that comes from trusting in Your sovereignty. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen. Comments are closed.
