In the previous devotional, my friend Darrell shared his story of losing his sweet baby girl, Angel. His wife, Carol, wrote another story before she passed away from Alzheimer's on April 26, 2019. This short story is about her pain as she deals with the loss of their son, Darrell, who died early from an accident. I can't imagine losing one child but to lose two is unimaginable. Darrell Dee was a boy like all boys, yet he was different. Maybe because he was mine. I have so many memories unmarred by the passing of time. Can it be only eight weeks ago today that he was mine? I remember the white hair blowing as he flew by on a horse. Always just a little too daring for his mother. He loved to hunt, fish, and to tease. But most of all he loved me. I remember that Christmas when he got the mini bike we couldn’t afford. His tears of joy were worth it all. Little boys are very special to their mothers. They show more affection and just a different nature than others. If I was ever sad or upset, he was the first to know, and he would do anything to let his love show. How I loved him, even now. Those are the first words I’ve written about him, and I find it hard to use the past tense. Does anyone really know? Does anyone really care? Words cannot express grief. My only comfort comes mercifully from God in the times that I am able to forget. But do I really want to forget? Those memories are priceless to me, and now they’re all I have left. Carol added a short poem: What does 1-2 used to be 3 mean? 1= Darrell D. Bryant Sr. 2= Darrell D. Bryant Jr. 3= Darrell D. Bryant III … The 3… “Never More” He is our COMPASSION. In a world marked by brokenness and suffering, our hearts yearn for compassion. We long for understanding, empathy, and kindness. We seek solace in the embrace of those who care for us. Yet, no human compassion can compare to the boundless compassion of our Heavenly Father. The Scripture reminds us that our God is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger, and rich in love. His compassion flows ceaselessly ready to pour out on us whenever we call upon His name. God's compassion knows no limits or boundaries. It reaches into the deepest recesses of our pain, gently mending our brokenness and healing our wounded spirits. When life overwhelms us and trials threaten to engulf us. He sees our tears and hears our cries. He understands the depths of our hurt and extends His loving arms to lift us up. He saw Carol in her pain and loss and in His compassion, God offers comfort, strength, and hope. Even in our moments of weakness and failure, God's compassion remains steadfast. He does not abandon us in our shortcomings but extends His grace and mercy. His compassion gives us the courage to rise again, knowing that His love is greater than our mistakes. By reflecting God's compassion, we become vessels of His love, spreading light in the darkest corners of our world. Today, as you turn to God, the source of all compassion. Allow His tender love to wash over you and fill you with renewed strength. Embrace His compassion, and let it flow through you, touching the lives of others. In God's compassionate embrace, we find healing, restoration, and the truest expression of love. Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for Your boundless compassion. Help me to experience Your love in a profound way and empower me to receive Your compassion and extend it to others. May Your compassion be a light in my life and a testimony to Your goodness. In Jesus' name, Amen. Comments are closed.
