 When I'm Not Feeling Very Thankful
(Ephesians 5:20)

For the entire family  
 
1. Thankful for How Long? Always:    
   As a family, can you share a time when it was hard to be thankful? How did you handle it?
   Why do you think God wants us to be thankful always, even in difficult situations? 

​2. Thankful for What? Everything:    
   Each family member, share one thing you find challenging to be thankful for. How can we find gratitude in those situations?
   How can we help each other focus on the positive aspects of challenging circumstances?
 
3. Thankful to Who? The Father Through Jesus:    
   Why is it important to thank God through Jesus? What does Jesus do for us that makes our thanksgiving meaningful?
   How can our family express thanks to God together in a special way?
 
 For Kids:
 
4. Always Thankful - Even in Tough Times:    
   Can you think of a time when you felt sad or upset, but later found something good in it? What was it?
    How can we teach ourselves to remember to be thankful, even when we don't feel like it?
 
5. Thankful for Everything, Even the Small Stuff:    
   What is something small that happened today that you are thankful for?
   How can we help each other notice and appreciate the little things in life?
 
6. Who is Jesus, and Why Do We Thank Him?:    
   Why do we say "through Jesus" when we thank God? What did Jesus do for us?
   Can you think of a way to thank Jesus as a family?
 
For Teenagers:
 
7.  Maintaining Thankfulness in Challenges:    
    In your teenage life, when is it hardest to be thankful? How can a constant attitude of gratitude make a difference?
    Share a personal experience when gratitude helped you through a tough time.
 
8. Gratitude in Relationships:    
   How can being thankful impact our relationships within the family and with friends?
   Can you think of ways we, as a family, can create an atmosphere of thankfulness at home?
 
9. Understanding the Role of Jesus:    
   As teenagers, why do you think the Bible emphasizes thanking God through Jesus? How does Jesus mediate our thanksgiving?
   Discuss how understanding Jesus' role can deepen our appreciation and gratitude.
