It’s the last weekend before school starts here in Marshfield. The evening have turned cooler this week. Gather around a crackling fire pit with your family and create memories before the summer break ends.

Here are 12  ideas to enjoy around your fire pit this weekend.

1. Classic Marshmallow Roasting
Gather marshmallows, chocolate, and graham crackers for a timeless s'mores session. Show the kids how to perfectly roast marshmallows to achieve that golden-brown and ooey-gooey creation.
2. Storytelling Around the Circle
Bring out the storytellers in your family. Take turns sharing spooky tales, funny stories, or personal memories of “do you remember when.”

3. Campfire Cooking
Cooking over an open flame is an adventure itself. Prepare foil packet meals filled with vegetables, meats, and spices. It's not only a tasty dinner but also an interactive cooking experience for everyone.

4. Musical Jam Session or Karaoke
If your family has some musical talent, gather around the fire pit with guitars, ukuleles, or even just some makeshift drums. Sing your favorite songs and enjoy an impromptu jam session under the stars or turn on the turns and have karaoke night.

5. Shadow Puppet Theater
Create your own shadow puppet show using your hands and some creativity. It's a fun way to engage younger family members and put on a performance.

6. Outdoor Movie Night
Set up a portable projector and screen or move a TV outside to watch a family-favorite movie under the open sky. Provide blankets and pillows for added comfort.

7. Fire Pit Games
Turn your fire pit area into a game zone. Play lawn games like cornhole, horseshoes, or ring toss. You can also invent your own fire pit-themed games.

8. Star Gazing
Bring out a telescope or simply lay back and enjoy the night sky. Identify constellations, planets, and shooting stars together. This is not only educational but also unbelievably relaxing.

9. Roast Veggies and More
Expand your fire pit cooking repertoire beyond marshmallows. Roast vegetables, and corn on the cob, or even bake potatoes in the coals for a healthy and delicious treat.

10. Crafting Session
Set up a crafting station with supplies for making friendship bracelets, painted rocks, or other simple crafts. The firelight will add a touch of magic to your creative endeavors.

11. Fire Pit Karaoke
Host a mini karaoke session with family members taking turns to sing their favorite songs. It's a lighthearted way to showcase your vocal talents or lack thereof.

12. Fire Pit Science Experiments
Engage curious minds with fire-related science experiments. For instance, demonstrate how different materials burn, explain the science of combustion, or create colorful flames using certain chemicals.

Make the most of this last weekend before school starts. Enjoy time with your kids and teenagers around the fire!
